About IRFA

The Indian River Family Association was founded in 1990 by Joan McGarvey who served as President for the past 20 years.  Dr. R. Craig McGarvey was voted in as President in October, 2009.

IRFA is an affiliate of the American Family Association, founded by Don Wildmon.  We are a pro-life Christian educational organization concentrating on issues of government, law, education and the media.

The IRFA publishes a free monthly newsletter providing vital and up-to-date information on current events and provides action steps for those wishing to impact our culture for our Judeo-Christian values.

We are active in many areas sponsoring and participating in many events. 

 For the past 13 years, we have met for weekly vigils at the Vero Beach Planned Parenthood clinic.  We meet on Tuesday from noon to 1pm and on Friday from 1pm-2pm.  Please join us.  Contact us at 569-2921 for more information.

 We also are one of the sponsors of Sanctity of Life Sunday each January.  We and hundreds of other pro-life Christians meet along Rt. 60 from St. Helens Catholic Church stretching westward to Plannned Parenthood and beyond.  Come and stand with us for LIFE.

 Each year we conduct pickets of businesses that sell pornograph which is detrimental to families. 

 We sponsor the local National Day of Prayer, Meet at City Hall, in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Fellsmere the first Thursday in May at 12:20 pm.  We offer prayers to God for His grace and blessings for America.  We have local pastors, speakers and patriotic music encouraging those present to pray for our leaders at all levels of government.

  Each November for the Thanksgiving holiday, we request and receive proclamations for Christian Heritage Week from the Vero Beach City Council and the Indian River County Commission.

At our annual fundraising banquets, we have hosted nationally recognized speakers including Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, Robert Knight of Coral Ridge Ministries, Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association, Brad Mattes of Life Issues Institute, Mildred Jefferson of American Life League, David Caton of the Florida Family Association, Jim Sedlak of Stopp Planned Parenthood, Janet Folger of Faith2Action, and Col. Ron Ray.
